Skimmer problem

    What could be wrong with my skimmer other than its a seaclone LOL. It has been working fine for the past week and even have the green skimate in the cup but now even with the air valve all the way open I can even get the bubble to go to the collection cup. With it all the way open it would go to the cup quickly and now nothing. Is it broken or am I missing something

    Have you taken it apart and cleaned it? Could just need a little un-clogging somewhere at the point of connection. Try and take the valve off of the end of the airline tubing and blow into it.

    The air tube or air intake is clogged with salt crytals, that used to happen to me with my old skimmer. Luna

    Silly question here: (assuming this is an in-sump model) Is the water level in the sump extra low for any reason?

    It hangs on the back of the tank and i will try to take it completely apart and clean it even though it was cleaned good 5 weeks ago.

    Also it does take air in and makes the tornado effect in the canister but just does not seem to work right. But like you guys said I will clean it good.

    Just noticed it seems that I am getting water in the air tube some how would this be the problem and how would I fix it

    Maybe it's just time to get a new one. I was in the LFS today and asked about skimmers. They recommended Deltec and even showed me this great attachment that automatically cleans and flushes the tube/collection cup twice a day. The last time I bought a skimmer was 1997 and I think I paid about 200 bucks for it including the wooden block to produce the air bubbles. Apparently things have changed a bit over a decade. Deltecs website has the skimmer and cleaner for the low low price of $3000,
