i have been noticing my skimmer has been producing a ton of microbubbles when i feed. I don't know why it does this, it always produces microbubbles but its a tolerable amonut. But when feeding my fish it like freaks out and goes insane. Should i just turn it off when feeding? Oh and i have the octo bh 800s

What are you feeding? It will still do that even if you leave the skimmer off for a while but probably not as much.

frozen brine and mysis shrimp soaked in garlic. I feed a little at a time to make sure it all gets eaten but the skimmer just goes nuts. Then like shortly after i'm done feeding, it settles down

It is reacting against the garlic. I would turn it off when feeding and wait about 30 minutes. It should be good then.

You could try rinsing your food with ro/di water also before soaking in garlic and then waiting about a half hour will reduce the amount of bubbles especially if your filter is still running but not eliminate. I turn off everything when I feed, then turn my pump on after ten minutes and my filter and skimmer etc later and I get microbubbles for like 15 minutes or so. Not nearly as bad as when skimmers break in. It used to create crazy amount of bubbles for about an hour before. I dont think you have a way to do this but I have the cpr bak pak and I didnt use the return compartmen for bio bale and instead stuff it with chaeto and put a light on it as a mini refugium and it eliminated micro bubbles pretty much.

My skimmer does the same. It starts to work like normal after 20-30 mins so I don't worry about it.
