I have the AquaC Remora Pro hob skimmer. The pump is a Mag-Drive 3.
Lately when I shut the pumps off to feed the fish the skimmer pump fails to come on. A few times it would delay a minute or two and then come on. The last time I had to take it out and tap it with a hammer to get it going.
Could this be as simple as an impeller or do you think the whole pump is going.

You need to take the pump cover off and soak everything (pump included) in white distilled vinegar overnight. Mine did this too and just needed to have the deposits removed with a good soak and then a scrub with a toothbrush.

I suggest disassemble the pump and soak it in pure vinegar for a day or so it could have calcium develop up that is making it to stick.
