Skimmer pump help...

    I have a Sea Life Systems protein skimmer and looking for help on how to hook it up externally. I have no clue on what pump i should be using. attached pictures to give you an idea what I am dealing with.

    Externally as in just outside your sump or farther away? If it's just outside I'd say the rated pump would be fine. Just use flex pvc or clear tubing to make the connections and go.:)

    I'm pretty sure that Is an Internal only Skimmer! I do not think you can hook that one up External, I may be wrong but a friend has one just like that and It's Internal.

    Oh, is it ok to have the skimmer pump and return pump in the same chamber? Should I just look into purchasing an external skimmer?

    if its internal sump model, you could get a tall tuperware bin and put in next to the sump.. just make sure the tub/bin is tall enough to hold 6-10" of water level so the skimmer works properly.. Im just brainstorming, I have no idea what Im talking about.. :)

    yea I do, if you have room..

    I aim my skimmer output pipe away from return pump to limit micro bubble going into tank..

    note: return pump is just to left of skimmer.. I also pointed mag 3 pump intake pipe away from skimmer too..

    sounds good, thanks...Im going to check tomorrow if I can fit the skimmer next to my space hogging mag return...Looks like we have the same skimmer, what pump do you use?

    well there is no way of fitting the skimmer in the sump along with my return pump. so i guess im now in the market for an external skimmer. can anyone recommend any to me?
