ive been messin with a mesh mod pump and heres whats goin on. the pump has a venturi with an air line and its a rocket 0-6" under water but lower than that it stops suckin air.

are the in/out lines too small?
    is the airline to small?

That would be my guess. However, I've never done a mesh mod so this is merely guessing. Either way, my post is a bump for your thread.

the science behind air/water mixture is common either in mesh or needle. i did two ideas, minimized the intake to create a better venturi suction and just stuck a hose in without a venturi. both produced the same results. now the pump is operating lower than 5" in the water.

feel free to add your input

RG I had this same issue with a Coralife Supper Skimmer pump that I did the fishing line mod on. at around 5 inches it just wouldn't pull air anymore. I had to add a small strainer to mine and it worked just fine after that. It just takes a little more restriction to get the air started.

played with it again and managed to get it to 80w @ 180 scfh

does anyone know if there is a skimmer pump on the market that can match this?
