Skimmer Reccomendation

    LOL Surprised :) heck so would all the others who think they don't need a skimmer to see what the DOC look like in a collection cup that green stuff is just algae food :) Keep it skimming buddy and add a little carbon also if you don't already. will really help the slimmer out.

    ok so fairly new to this but with this skimmer does it replace the filter that i currently have on my ten gallon?

    A skimmer does things a filter can't and a filter does things a skimmer won't . Mechanical filters remove solid particulates by catching the solids in a media and I said solids . The skimmer is actualy a foam fractionier and it works only on saltwater not fresh its not that effecient But the water builds up millions of tiny foam bubbles in the reactor chamber the surfaces of the bubbles create tension then the bubbles acclimates dissolved carbons and other liquefied solids and this builds up on the bubbles until the bubbles burst in the collection cup. Ever see a beach covered in sea foam ? Thats natures skimmer . I would recommend a skimmer to anyone for any tank. It can be done with out one not a problem but it can be done better with one, Some just do it and some just do it correctly ..
