gotta be one or the other for me lol.. i cant fork over 160 for the aquac and another 50-60 for the mini refugium.

Ill pick some of that phos-ban up and hope my algae goes away faster. its not fun having a tank with a fish if you cant turn the lights on

    skimmer does more good faster

    HI,
I believe the skimmer removes way more organic than the reforguim, and maybe one day you can get the reforgium too.

Cool. I'll probably stick with just the skimmer for now because I am running out of room to hang stuff on the back of my tank ..

AquaC Remora with maxijet 1200 it is! ((unless someone can convice me otherwise, I am open to suggestions :) ))

Mario....the skimmer/refugium shown in very similar in design as the Bak Pak skimmer so noise will be an issure again. The Phosban comes in granules that you can put in a media bag or you can buy them already in packets or pillows that you just drop in to a high flow area. I am not familiar with your current filter set up but I feel there is some place (maybe where the sponge is) where you can store this. Belive me.....get your Phophate under control and your nitrates down (which will stay down with the skimmer and good bacteria colony) and your algae problems will disappear....like I said earlier, I am having to suppliment my emerald crabs, hermits and snails because they don't have anything or very little to eat off the glass or rocks....I think you are heading in the right direction with a good quality skimmer....good luck on your many years of upcoming headache and happiness.....There is nothing more stressful or enjoyable than a salt tank. Allot like a child!

Bouraganese....yes I have/had the silencer on the Bak Pak but when fine tuning it gets more or less noisy and when it worked the best it was somehwere in the middle of really noisy to no noise, but too much for the living room.

so I was at my LFS and asked to see if he had an Aqua C skimmer and was told by the manager that he didnt carry 'hang-on' type skimmers because they were useless. He said to save my money and not waste my time with the hang on type.. biased?

    UPDATE:
I will be recieving my AquaC Remora w/ Maxijet 1200 tomorrow but I wont be able to play around with it until 5 or 6. I have to leave Thursday after work out of town for the weekend. Do I leave it running, or just wait till I get back? Anyone with this particular model have advice? Frustrations? I dont need any more headaches and I am hoping that this will actually relieve some of those. And you KNOW I will post some pics when I get it in :laugh4:

You can leave it running.....I clean mine out every two to three days, but can go longer like a week with out any overflow issues. (try to clean the up tube every couple of days, this will inhibit foam travel) The only adjustment this skimmer is how high or low you want to have your collection cup set. The higher the less "watery" green tea and more of the darker and thicker crud. The lower gets more watery and green tea looking stuff but has to be changed more often.....try setting in the middle....thick stuff is harder to clean than watery stuff, but you don't want overflow either. Both are good choices, more of a cleaning preference. When you get back you can play with it and see where you want it! I think you will be happy with your purchase.....I know I have enjoyed mine for two years now!
