cool. Thanks rashr. It should be there later today so I will mess with it. In the event that it does overflow, does it overflow back into the tank or all over my carpet? :( that would suck haha

I have never had one overflow or get that close, so I am not sure how this would happen.....By it's design I would say it would definitely not go back into the tank, but due to the up tube being coverd up, I don't see how anymore could come up to be skimmed. Like I said earlier, just set it up with a mid heigth. This will be good for you because it will take a few days for it to "break" in and start skimming anyhow! Good luck!

for that price mark you are nuts if you don't get a corallife cs125. As a matter of fact its only $110. I have a prism... it's ok, but my cs 220 will bury it. That thing works twice as good. The prism gets about a shot glass a day of tea colored skimmate on my 46bow, the cs220 collects a coffee cup a day of black nasty thick stinky smelly bad stuff. Don't get me wrong the remora is nice... but more expensive and tuff to dial in. Go check on reef central... there is a 80pg thread about remora vs cs220.

Now you tell me.. way to go ;)

I cant find any pics of the coralife one you are talking about, but if you read the thread, I have limited space behind my tank from the wall so I needed something rather flat, instead of round like most of the coralife ones that i have seen. Also, I needed something that I didnt have to "tune". I dont have a sump so it had to be hang on style..
style also played a role in my decision haha
I hope I wont regret buying this since there were many others that were definitely cheaper, but this one seems to be highly talked about

I hear ya, the prism is very thin... I'll give it that. the cs 125 needs 5inch gap at back. Keep in mind... if you upgrade tanks later... you are going to be unhappy with the prism. I'd go for the remora then. or... octopus. not as thin as the prism but 2x as good. trust me you will regret spending sm amount of money on skimmer that doesn't work well. deltec makes a good hob skimmer too. good luck

one more thing... don't ever listen to the LFS. whatever he doesn't carry is junk... then he'll turn around and offer the jebo or seaclone as a solution. all I have to say is look at the tanks at the lfs, then look at the tanks of ppul on these forums... need I say more?

Cool. Thanks for the info man.
I already bought the Remora so I guess its too late to go back now haha. Its showing as already being at the Htown hub so it will definitely be there today.

When dialing in, what do i look for? is it just a matter of moving the cup up and down to suit your liking or do some settings work better than others?

i would say... getting the bubbles where they need to be to get a fair amount of skimmate -but not too wet. Whatever your device needs to do to arrive at that conclusion(on remoras it's the collection cup height plus the flow rate). First set it up so that it doesn't overflow(check every few hours) and let it break in for a week, then make small adjustments and check every 24hrs and see that you are getting dark skimmate. Know that you will prob have to adjust every time you empty the collection cup... until you get a feel for it. I wouldn't "clean" the cup every time you empty it (the gook on the inside of it helps it create skimmate). good luck

Recieved it today. Box was bigger that expected. Actual skimmer was already assembled... All I had to do was take the pump out and hook it to the clear tube.. Instructions were not clear at all.. especially on what parts to use for the PH, so I just used to little nozzle for filtration.. it sucked a bunch of water so my water level is lower than i started and made tons of bubbles in my tank. Its kinda noisy at the moment but this is supposed to go away.... The build of it seemed sturdy enough, but the glue job on it was not that impressive... seems like they could have glued it nicer and used a nicer hose than the gray pvc. too picky?

I have the cup about half way, should I raise it when I leave out of town for the weekend?
