    Hey everyone,
I run a HOB CPR Bak Pak Dual Pak skimmer and recently after doing treatment of Chemi clean my skimmer has been working overtime and producing and extreme amout of micro bubbles, not like normal. So until my system gets back to normal I want to run my skimmer only at night when the lights are off. Does anyone see a problem with that? I normally run 24/7 but the microbubbles are making it hard to enjoy the DT.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
No you can do that way. A lot of people do not run the skimmer 24/7.

Have you tried putting a aquarium sponge under the output of the skimmer to see if that will help with the micro bubbles. Just make sure you are not blocking the water flow or you could end up with a flood.

Sounds like you are trapping air somewhere, or the water level, or skimmer level is not ideal.

Make sure it is the skimmer by turning off every pump in the tank and then turning them on one at a time, if you have not already done so.

attach a filter sock to the output of your skimmer. It will not allow bubbles to pass through

the only negative with the not running 24/7 I have encountered is that when you 1st start a skimmer it takes a while to start producing foam, and stopping and starting it could mean your not using it effectively
it could mean in some instances that you dont produce half as much skimmate in 12 hours as you would produce in 24

worth trying and assesing your own results IMO

This is correct. The skimmer would start over taking a much longer period to obtain the same amount of skimmate if it was ran 24/7

As soon as the Chemiclean is completely out of the system and my skimmer is running back to a normal status I will continue to run the skimmer 24/7 again. Those are my intentions.
