It does have a drain. If you are looking at the pic you will see a gray cap on the top of the collection cup. This cap has 6 holes in the top of it, so if too much water/bubbles are in the cup it flows out the top. Thus, back into the sump.

He means a drain on the bottom that you can hook a hose to and route to a milk jug or such

i have the same skimmer and love it. It is sensitive to waterlevel changes in the sump. mine is submerged about seven inches. and when i first set it up i kept the foam bubbles just under the neck or just under the cup. mine took two weeks to start producing waste. It just needs to break in. if you need more help you can pm me i will be more than happy to help. good luck

It does have a drain. If you are looking at the pic you will see a black cap on the top of the collection cup. This lid has 6 holes in the top and when the cup is full it drains out the top. That was why I initially asked this question because my cup was filling with water and then draining out the top back into the sump. I would imagine that if I had the settings right the bubbles would not collect fast enough for this to overflow as long as I am emptying it on a regular basis.

Oh sorry, new to the layout of this forum and didn't realize there was a second page. I do not believe there is any drain. I have not seen one and the instructions that came with it did not mention one.

Ok... I would follow that guy that has the same one. lol I've only had one skimmer and I don't understand how it can work without some sort of waste collection container(in addition to the cup). I guess this one only dry foams.. which is the preferred method of most.
