i added a skimmer lastnight and i had to rip down alot of my tank to move it so i could put it in. now my room stinks really bad lol. is it because of the tear down or the skimmer? and will it go away if its due to the skimmer? this is so not acceptable lol

Its the gunk from the skimmer or you have a leak you don't know about.

The "aroma" is from disrupting the tank. The skimmer doesn't have any skimate in it in one day. It will settle down. If you are using carbon it may be exhausted. Carbon will give off a "fishy" smell when exhausted.

The smellier and nastier the better. Means your skimmer is working. ;D

Better that stuff's in your skimmer cup than in your tank.

The thing that I'm not quite clear on is that ripping apart the tank is causing such a bad smell. A slght smelly beachlike scent seems normal but if it's too bad my concern is for how much detritus and pollution is in your tank. My tank smells like fresh seawater for the most part even if I disrupt my deep sand bed.
