I have the same problem!!!Ive lost hundreds of copepods to my skimmer...I find that if I point my drainage pipe directly at my skimmer's pump, the force of the draining water keeps most of them from being suck in when they get to close to the pump.In my case the cause was the debri(trapped food) in the sponge(De-fizzer) that was compelling them to get so close to the pump.I still have hundreds in my sump/refuge..I.M.O looking at your refuge..and you wanting a farm...I would add some more live rock/refuge rubble better...more places for them to hind reproduce.

There is no way a skimmer would deplete your pod population to a noticeable level, at least not by sucking them up. Maybe by removing excess nutrients but that's a whole different reason.

no matter what you will suck some up. I find pods in the collection cup every cleaning but after 5 years with the tank I still have them in the tank.

A seaclone skimmer may not suck up much of anything, but that's for another thread. If you are worried about your pod population you can split your drain, one feed to the fuge and one to the skimmer section with the return in the middle, that way not all pods have to go through the skimmer section before going back to tank (if water goes fuge>skimmer>return) or if you go skimmer>fuge>return, then your fuge is being fed nutrient rich water before the skimmer gets a chance to strip the nutrients.
