I am looking for a skimmer for a 30 gal tank. I want to use it in my sump and be able to handle the bioload from a ~75 gal tank for my future upgrade. I don't want to buy new equipment. The tank is in my bedroom right now so noise is a pretty big factor.

    What do you suggest?

    Thanks

Octopus skimmers seem to be quite good. I've had mine for a few weeks now and am very happy with it. I think an Octopus NW-150 would suit your needs.

Cool-thanks for the help. When I said I don't want to buy new equipment, I meant for the upgrade. I think you understood that though.

Where did you get your skimmer?

I would look into the Aqua C line of skimmers such as their popular EV line!

I bought my skimmer at a LFS in Sydney but I doubt that will help you because I'm assuming you are in America. I shopped around and got it for a good price, so I suggest you do the same in your local area. Also check prices at online aquarium supply stores.
I'm sure there are other brands that are equally as good or better but I have no experience with them so I can't comment on them.

I would also suggest the Octopus NW-150 for a 75 gallon system it will be great, and it is normally less than $200.
