Hello all, my hubby has just changed his 20g to sw and we are currently using a filter while we wait for a skimmer. Anyone have some affordable skimmer ideas for a 20g tank.

I know my lfs has some that they built, and hes selling them for $50.00 plus shipping.Suposably they work good. I cant recomend it cause i have never used it. I can problably take some pics of it, and post it so you can take a look if you whant. Thats just looking out for the "affordable" ones, but i would problably get a coralife needle wheel. Their cheap, and work great by what i have heard!!IMO

its skimming fine. break in time was a little blah. about a week. but other than that i have no complaints.

i can say the it does take some tinkering with to get it how you need it working.

I just purchased a Coralife Needle Wheel and it wonderful. I like it because (1) if is adaptable to be operated as a hang-on or in a sump. (2) It is quite. (3) It is basically a plug and use, very effortless to operate, and (4) the price is ideal for the quality. The only draw back I could say so far is that the collection cup’s capacity is a little small. Some of my peers use a Berlin and Remora I would say that this competitively competes with them.

I am partial to the Remora by Aqua C! It is alittle more expensive but feel it is worth it, plus if you upgrade tank wise in the near future, you will be able to use the Remora as I have used it on a 75gallon reef tank!!
Plus I like the spray injection system as oppossed to needle wheel, or downdraft etc. skimmers!
