    Hi!

I'm looking for a new skimmer for my 10 gallon reef tank. Any suggestions on brands and where I could buy/order one?

    Thanks

    Shane

Smaller "nano" skimmers are usually not that effective. I run my 14g biocube without a skimmer and just perform extra water changes. I believe skimmers are one of the most important part of a reef system, but with the size of the skimmer, you probably won't get an effective design until you get into skimmers that are very overkill for you tank (i.e. handle 50+ gallons of water). If that's what you're looking for, then GREAT! Many people suggest going overkill on equipment.

At such a small tank size, you are sort of between a rock and a hard place. As mentioned above, you can go without a skimmer and just perform regular weekly water changes, plus with limited feedings and population of fish especially, you will be able to have success with it without running a skimmer. Live rock and sand will also help as biological filtration.
