I have a Euroreef Es on my 150g. I don't know which model it is because I bought it used(came with tank). I think it is underated. I have 240lbs of live rock and only 5 fish so it is a small bioload. I was thinking of doing a recirculating mod if I keep this skimmer. Any major benefits to that? I haven't had to buy a new skimmer in years so don't know the latest and greatest. So any one have a good suggestion for a skimmer for my tank?

    Thanks!

Well, I have a few suggestions. They are not cheap, but they would make good additions to your tank. Now, I usually like to see a skimmer that will handle a tank heavily stocked. For example, my tank is 90g. So I want a skimmer that will handle 100g heavily stocked to 300g lightly stocked. I ended up with an ETSS 600XR (old style). Your tank is a little bigger....some of these skimmers will do 400g lightly stocked.

    PM Bullet-3
    ETSS 800XR
    ETSS 600XR
    AquaC EV-240
    ASM G-4X

Now, Bubble King makes a really good skimmer too. However, I almost had a heart attack when I saw the price....See? My heart fluttered again. Over a grand for something that does 300g.

Deltec is also makes a good line of skimmers. Again, very pricey.

There are a few others I am missing. Please, anyone else, chime in with ideas.

Whatever skimmer you choose, it should have have ozone capability. Even if you do not intend to do this now, or ever intend to do it, you want the ability to exercise the option in the future just in case.

    Good luck and have fun!!!!

Thanks Pharmrjohn. Good suggestions. Im gonna look at all of them. After doing some research I bealieve my skimmer is the RS-80. It is undersized for my tank so I will probably bite the bullet and buy a new one. I had a ASM on another tank I had before and it worked well. Also can you explain ozone capability, why do I want it?

I looked into those suggestions and really like the Aqua C EV240. That looks pretty awesome. Might have to pull the trigger on that
