skimmer with a new tank

    i was told by my lfs that i should turn off the air to my skimmer but leave the powerhead to it on for the first 4 weeks of a new tank. any feedback would be great. ;D

    If there are no livestock in the tank, then that is probably a suggestion for a break-in period. Without much bioload you probably won't see much skimmate.

    All skimmers will need to be adjusted on an as needed basis, especially after cleaning them, to ensure optimum performance.
