Skimmer without mechanical filter?

    You're also using MH lighting for beginner corals- if you're referring to mushrooms or polyps, that's basically overkill. How long do you run your lights each day, and does your tank receive direct sunlight?

    To help battle the GHA, you can leave your lights off for a few days once you get a skimmer (or filter) and get it going. An 8-hr schedule will be plenty when you resume.

    Yes, the MH is definitely overkill. LOL When I upgraded to it I wanted to be able to put almost anything I like in there, I just haven't found a whole lot yet. It's on 7.5 hours a day. I actually just realized that the angle of the sun has changed & it was shining on the tank in the morning. I fixed that problem a few days ago. :) Thanks for the rec. on the skimmer. I've been having trouble deciding which one I like.
