Skimmer?

OK so lets say you don't have the cash for the skimmer you need and you come across a used in great shape smaller unit say like almost free is it better than nothing or can you go for awhile without. Pros - Cons Thanks

 

absolutely, hook that thing up! skimming out a little is better than none at all.

 

shoebox - 100% agreed with dowtish - any skimmer is likely better than no skimmer.

 

As always thanks guys well I am going to the local aquarium auction this weekend and you never know.

How do you find out about such a thing?? through a local reef club?

 

I'd say the only real con is that when you do have the cash to upgrade to the skimmer you need, you would end up having spent more.

That being said, I'd still get the smaller one til the good one is an affordable option, atleast if it's going to be a while.

 

he did say "almost free", so I'm assuming that's not going to break him.

 

Figured it was atleast worth mentioning, lol.
