    quick question for skimmer,looking at 75 gallon tank with sump,skimmer inside of sump or can it be outside of sump,upgrading from small aio to 75 gallon

    I'm not sure what you're question is, are you looking for a skimmer recommendation?

    They make all different kinds of skimmers. Some can sit outside the sump but if you have room I don't see why you wouldn't want one in the sump

    I would think an in-sump skimmer would be preferable. I had thought about using a HOB skimmer, but I would need the water level in the sump to be too high to accommodate it.

    sorry for the confusion going from a all in one to a 75 gal, i noticed when checking out this display that was for sale the skimmer was outside of the sump buy it self, its a hydor 120 gph and could not find any help in ths store and was pressed for time.

    There are skimmers that can be run externally and not in an HOB configuration. With externals, there is usually more plumbing which translates to taking up more room.

    Yeah the old skimmer I had was set up like that. This is the best example I could find of it. (it's very nice having all the extra room now that my skimmers in sump)

    I have a 75 gallon myself and am running a reef octopus 4 in sump. Just got it a few days ago and already seeing some nice skimate. Its not very noisy once you connect a pipe to the outflow pipe to dampen the water splashing.
