skimmers under $120

Are there any skimmers under 120. I have a 36 gallon tank with 1.5 gallons of cheato algae. A tetra pf10 running only biomax ceramic rings and a AC70 with half carbon and half sponge. I have one volitan lionfish and I am getting some coral. Should I add any more filtration. Could I do big weekly water changes until I get my filter.

Weekly water changes will help, but it really is a band-aid solution. In that pricerange, your best bet is to look at the used market. A ton of great deals can be had with a little bit of digging. You would be better off looking for a quality used unit then purchasing a cheapo and realizing it needs replacing anyways.

 

i used to use a coralife super skimmer, i think it ran me ~90$ it was terrific, kinda wish i still had it, since my skimmer is being super lame these days.

 

About the only new HOB skimmer that comes under 120 that I know of is the Octopus Bh-100.

Or look for a used CPR BakPak II or AquaC Remora

 

They have sea clone protein skimmers, but that is like the cheapest quality.

 

Buy a quality used skimmer,don't buy some cheap,junkie new skimmer.I bought my euro used,great skimmer,no regrets.

 

what about a octopus bh100. has anyone used this?

 

I have a 36 gallon and HAD a lionfish for a while..use the coralife super skimmer 65..it's in my sump now but before i had the sump i used it as a HOB and it worked great
