I have a 15gal nano with a boyu-308 since a year (working perfectly). i just added gfo and carbon in my HOB and now the skimmer cup becomes ful every 24hrs and i have to immidiately empty it. before i use to empty every 3-4days. what can be the prob? 1 more change i made was that i increased the water level in the skimmer to halfway up of my cup, but iv done this before also but never skimmed somuch like it does now.

I believe the Boyu is a copy of the coralife super skimmer? I would say that it was definitely adjusting the water level in the skimmer that is causing the cup to fill.

The coralife always clogged and overflowed. Most of the time it was the air intake caked up with salt. A properly working skimmer won't skim much of anything on a 15g though, there just isn't enough water volume. So, I'd also guess you have it adjusted too high to try to get it to do something... This doesn't leave enough leaway for when there is something to skim and it overflows. That's sort of the problem with oversized skimmers, they are nearly impossible to adjust. May want to turn it down a bit and clean it.

ok something must be residual either on the gfo or the carbon... im also thinking it has to do with the water level... is thier anyway to bring it back down to where it was

i bot gfo and carbon from premium aquatics. it had lots of powder too, had to wash a bit so maybe this might be causing too much skimming..
