Reefers what y'all think about this skimmer?

I have a 75 gallon tank and this skimmer is prob the
Cheaper one that is rated at 200g. It's way to much
For a 75g but I eventually want to up grade to a 150g in the future

The problem is a properly rated skimmer can only span about twice the size. So one rated for a 150 can do a 75. But one rated for 200 will not work well on a 75. So many people say they will upgrade in the future... but if you already know you are... why bother? Just get the one you need when you need it.

A skimmer rated for 200 on a 75 will not keep a stable head of foam and every now and then will puke a bit into the cup. the neck is too big for the amount of organics. It isn't like it will just all of a sudden stop working on a tank below 100g... it's than performance will drop off the more out of range it is.

The Skimz seem to be a good brand with some nice features. Aquacave carries them and Warner Marine has been working with them on another line.

I was looking at the other skimz... the one you want is fine. It's rated for 200 but that is light... heavy it will be fine for 75-90. That's a good unit.

No. Some companies will list ratings for light and heavy bio loads. First nobody can even quantify a bio load. There are stocking rules for fish... so many inches per gallon... that is based on how much oxygen is in the water. So a 6-line wrasse in a 200 gallon tank is what... light??? Who knows. What most people do is put as many fish as they can in their tank and most are probably over stocked.

So don't even bother with the light numbers, just stick to heavy stocked ratings. That skimmer does 450 lph of air. 500 lph /100 gallon is a general sort of rule ... about as usefull as watts per gallon, but what ever... it's all we have. So that will be a good fit for your 75g... but 150 no. You want to start looking in the 900-1000 lph for that.

its rated for minimum 200 liters (53 gal), not 200 gallons. It would have worked fine for his system.
