i introduced a blue tang (2-3 inches) into my reef tank about a month ago, and he seems to be getting kinda skinny as i can see his ribs slightly, and what looks to be the beginning of some HLLE (just a darker area on the top of the head). I wanted to know what I should be feeding him to plump him up, and how often. now i'm feeding mainly frozen food and he usually eats, I tried algae sheets but he wont really touch them. Any suggestions on how to plump this guy up are very appreciated. thanks!

Herbivorous food is important for a tang's immune system, as far as I know, so some work on getting it eating that may be useful.

It took some of my tangs a day or two before they even touched the algae sheets. but I keep trying,... Have you fed them any flake food? My littlest blue tang wouldnt touch algae so in the meantime while trying i made sure he got what he needed to at least stay healthy till he started eating. eventually he learned from others where they clip was etc, this guy was little however. (.75") Id give garlic a shot though if you havent already tried.

Best of wishes fattening up the tang!

Yeah, definitely try the garlic. Soak some of the algae sheet and frozen food in it. It should help increase his appetite.

Do you have other fish that would eat the nori sheets? Mine didn't know what to do at first but watched the clowns eat it, and soon followed suit. Also, soak it in garlic (as the others mentioned). Keep us posted!!!!!

I soak my algae sheet in garlic. I will put about 5-6 drops of garlic right in to the water with an eyedropper a few minutes before I put it on the clip and The fish will come to the clip and wait for the food. Trying something like this may help increase your tangs appetite and hopefully he'll start eating. good luck
