I am looking to get a skunk cleaner shrimp. I was wondering if some people could give me some advice on how they care for one this way I can be prepared for when I decide to get one.

Nothing special really. They will just scavenge around the tank. Mine is always just scurring around looking for food. When I feed the fish he goes nuts and tries to catch some. I love mine, it's a great addition.

No special care. The water must be at least "reef quality." Other than that, make sure you have no fish that enjoy these shrimp for a snack--such as a trigger. Generally speaking if the tank is otherwise reef ready, a skunk shrimp should fare well.

The shrimp will eat what the fish do not. They need no special food, lighting or or care. Skunk cleaner shrimp are usually pretty animated, never boring, and very curious. Mine will make a beeline for my fingertips whenever I'm in the tank, and will go to town attempting to clean under my fingernails. :)

They're really cool... and they will eat out of your hand. Even if you don't have food they'll come up and try to clean your hands. Kinda tickles.

I forgot about that, mine too loves to pick at my fingers and finger nails. Whenever my hand is in the tank, he goes straight for it.

Cleaner shrimp are great. They eat everything. I just feed my fish pellets and they eat the leftovers. I do keep reef quality water. I think it needs just traces of iodine. Proper calcium levels will help it live longer life. If you add more than one, they become very active. I had 4 at one point but now i only have 2.
