skunk shrimp found dead this morning...

    right so i wont be able to give you my water params as i am at work but this morning i found one of my little skunkers dead...sob..... it looked as if he died while half way through his molt is this possible? im thinking something might have attacked him while he was changing skin or...he got stuck?. anyone had a similar bad experience?

    It's a fairly rare occurrence, but crustaceans can die from the stress of molting if something goes awry during the process.

    I had a sally lightfoot crab die during a molt; however, the only thing left was the half that was still in the old shell, so I'll never know if he was attacked mid-way, or if something was just doing it's job afterward.

    Are you sure he was dead, going through a molt can make them look very dead.

    Sorry for your loss. I just had a peppermint shrimp die on me too. I'm thinking it was similar- bad molt.
