    Quick Update

One of the seahorses didn't make it. :(

The other seems healthy still but am moving it to the new 20g fuge (upgraded from the 10g) so I can turn the PH back on in the 46, the cyano is too gross.
Will also be hatching BBS for the seahorse to suppliment the frozen & elusive pods.

I named the pistol shrimp Ruger ;D the goby is Orion.

I should be getting the epoxy paint today so I can finish the canopy... so new pics on that build thread soon. :party007:

That's about it for now...am @ work so I'm bored.

I ended up moving the remaining seahorse to the future fuge to the 46...increased the size from a 10g to a 20T the new thread for it is "The Skyfire Corral".

He seems happier and I can turn on the PH in the 46 and hopefully rid it of Cyano from the increased feedings.

My Tank is 6 Months Old!

Well this tank is now 6 months old and it's been through a lot.

Had the 4 day power outage all fish in the tank made it through just fine.
Then had a cyano outbreak...well the bit that was in there grew exponentially and overtook the tank.
So I used Chemiclean but was unable to do the full 20% water change after the 2nd round and ended up with an algae bloom where I couldn't see more than 3" into the tank. About 5 days into the algae bloom I remembered that I'd bought a UV sterilizer 3months or so back and that I'd gotten my return pump for my fuge so used it to connect the UV sterilizer and 2.5-3 days later the water is crystal clear....bit of cyano is back though (I think from not having RO/DI water, it's just RO...so yes it's my next equipment purchase).

Also after the green water cleared up I've found some apastia that popped up and a few little feather dusters with red feathers :)...so this weekend it's apastia killing time hehehehe :devil1: :skull:

I have a bunch of pics...hate showing pics of the cyano espeially since the Chemiclean had worked...but so be it...it will be eradicated once and for all very soon.

I must say my nano, which is 1 month older, is doing very well w/o any cyano/algae issues.

    Now for the Pictures

    Cool Update

Tonight I saw my mandarins doing their mating dance, I've never seen them do this before, not to say that they haven't before, just that I've not seen it....so cute.
I think because the water quality is now far better than it's been in a while and the actinics were on for a bit before going in to watch the reef for a bit...also the room lights had also been off for a while ...so they didn't see me ;D

Such a cool thing to see in my own tank (I've seen it on video).

My stupid phone won't let me edit my last post.

Anyway I'll try and get some video of my mandarins dancing in the "moonlight" (aka actinics :D )
Then I'll post it, one advavtage to the actinics is it's more light than just moonlights so the picture quality should be better....- hope.

    Update

In rearranging my living room in anticipation of my new big screen HDTV I had to move my tanks.

So the 46 is now next to the 113 so they will eventually share the sump/fuge saving me some moola on equipment. Also they aren't near my couch & A/V equipment (which is a good thing since salt creep isn't good for either one) and they are in prime viewing positions now as well.

I also ordered another evo 750 for the tank so I'm hoping that'll help with the cyano issue. I'll have about 41x turnover once the additional ph is added...yeah!

I'll post pics when I get home.

Nope need to order more rock as I have vey little....is just after the ro/di unit on the "to purchase" list.

I just moved the kenya tree so it'd quit bugging the toadstool.

I'm sure my green spotted puffer will enjoy the added flow that the second evo 750 will give.

He'll swim nose first less than 1/2 inch from the evo 750...yeah he's crazy....but too cute.

Wow, you've really come along! I love the shrimp/goby pair - I've had my shrimp close to 2 years now (next month) - he's been paired with a yellow watchman goby for probably a year and a half now. Great duo! Sorry that one of the seahorses didn't make it. :(

Thanks...I'm hoping the cyano and gha will clear up though. I've had a uv sterilizer on it and its helped some in that I've had more growth form the few corals I have...kinda want to get rid of the issues before adding more coral in.

I haven't actually seen the shrimp since introduction, but i did see it's molt last month or so ago and I hear what seems to be glass tapping on glass which I'm guessing is the snapping from it firing its weapon :D
