I started this little reef 2-4-10. I thought it was a good size and the rock work rocked...LOL. I didn't have any GHA problems only some diatoms (just a little). I did however get an additional piece of rock that had some GHA and it is going away...YAY!

But since I wanted a pair of clowns I had to upgrade to a 20 gallon tank. So tonight we moved the stuff into the 20 gallon tall...I do however plan to move all that to a 20 long...when I get one. I also added some much needed circulation with a Koralia 2, but I think it's a bit too much, doesn't seem to leave any place for the Xenia (it doesn't like too much flow). I'll try to arrange the rock work to block some of it to put the Xenia in and for the baby Mollies to rest in.

    This is the before

Mollies afraid of the fire fish, due to the fact that the Cinnamon Clown that was in there before wouldn't let them eat.

The poor fire fish died though .

But I did pick up a large 5lb rock with 5 heads of purple mushrooms on it and 2 of blue for $25...plus a piece of Tonga Branch rock with a pulsing Xenia on it for $5 and some waving hand coral added in for free! ;D (yeah it has GHA but it's dying and the mollies are eating it too I think)

I also got a little Black & White Clown Fish and we'll evict the mollies to be the guinea pigs (cycling fish for the 46 bow front). Next month we'll get lil' Emo a friend who will be named Nemo.

Pics tomorrow because the stupid sugar fine sand has clouded the water.

That's really coming along great! You might want to consider leaving the mollies in there until all the hair algae is gone. They are great algae eaters.

You need to slowly acclimate them to saltwater. That means you need a second tank.

I acclimated them in about a week.

I have a platinum sailfin male (he's more iridescent now and has orange red margin on his sail and black margin on his tail) and a female....they had babies in the tank and 3 are still alive! Don't know what I'll do with them...maybe feeder fish for someone???
But I'd get 2 of the same gender were I to do it again. I really didn't even check the gender of the female i just said any of that type....:-/ Oh well.

They were bought to cycle the tank and @ $1 each I figured I couldn't go wrong.

Here is a murky water pic(stupid sugar fine sand) of the larger 20 gallon high for my fishies.
*Note there is a ball of chaeto in the right hand corner wedged in a nook of the rock so it won't tumble around the tank like an aquatic tumbleweed. LOL

And one of Emo our newest resident.

Thanks, of course if I didn't get that 1 piece of rock then I wouldn't have a GHA problem :-/...or could have nuked the rock...but figured it'd die off or get eaten so just left it....so I sure hope it goes away and stays away.
