Below are two pictures of my single head Duncan that has been doing great for a month. It's stalk is normally Neon Green, and it is always open, swaying in the current.

It has some sort of Pink Slimecoat covering its stalk, and as the pics show, it is fully contracted. There seem to be small "string-like" things coming off of the slime. The best way to describe it is the small thread like melted acrylic stuff you get when you cut it with a mitre/circular saw. Below are my parameters...and have been steady since I got this frag, about 1 month ago.

    SG: 1.025
    Temp: 78.5
pH: 8.08 (varies to 8.22 by the end of the light cycle)
    Cal: 400
    Mag: 1200
    KH: 12.2
    NO3: less than 5
    PO4: .03

No algae to speak of. Have been dosing Brightwell BioFuel for a couple of weeks. No sign of anything wrong with the Duncan until this morning. No other life in the aquarium showing any signs of stress.

What is this Pink coating? Should I be concerned?

I don't have experience with it, but my initial thought is brown jelly disease.

I've Googled every bit of BJD and can't find any cases on Duncans. Does this happen to Duncans?

Don't know if it happens to Duncans but I think an iodine dip is in order to be safe.

Will a 10% Iodine solution work? Can't get ahold of Lugol's anywhere.

15 drops tincture of iodine per a liter of tank water and then rinse well in clean tank water before putting it back in the tank.

I'm fairly certain BJD can infect any coral. It's just a bacteria if I remember correctly. A buddy of mine just had it on a torch of his. In order to save the colony he just fragged the bad heads and discarded. There is some talk that Vitamin C dosing helps with BJD. I can't see the pictures at work to confirm what it is but you need to act quickly if it's BJD...

I've dipped it with the Iodine Solution, pulled off some of the slime, and it is back in the tank. It has completely closed up now. I cannot frag off the bad heads, and discard, as it is a single head.
