Now I know the best way to feed corals is basically using a turkey baster and letting the phytoplankton or what have you up stream from them. But what if you want to VERY VERY slowly add food and say trace elements to the tank?

I'm thinking about going on a trip and well with some corals they might like the food and minerals while I'm gone =P so i was thinking of maybe taking a large syringe removing the plunger adding some small airline hosing to it then place two or even three of the lee's valves to restrict the flow to a very slow drip, sort of like a slow IV line. I know this form of dosing the tank with phytoplankton isn't recommended, but while I'm gone for a week it would give peace of mind... What do the rest of you think about this? I don't even know if this ideal will restrict the flow that much but that's why you guys are here to tell me either I'm stupid, that sounds like a good idea, or i shouldn't worry as the small amount of corals I'll have wont be effected for a weeks vacation and yes i only plan to have about 2 lps and maybe a mushroom.

I was thinking of getting a bottle of marine snow as the lovely food.

I personally think they will be fine for a week without being fed.

My experience suggests that they would be fine for a week. Just make sure that you have an auto top-off system.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
For me I would be very hesitant to leave any autofeeder newly set up on a tank while I went out of town.

I think you would much better off, experimenting for a number of months before attempting to leave it unsupervised.

As already posted the corals will be fine while you are away. The risk of a decline in water quality is not worth it in my opinion.

Yes corals will be fine for a week with out food.probably the majority of ppl don't feed their coral(photosynthetic coral any way).as long as ur lights are on a timer and fish have an auto feeder if there is fish and you have an auto top off system you fine.

The corals should be fine. Remember they don't get fed once they are harvested until they reach a LFS. Most do just fine with whatever they get from the water column from fish waste.
