For a solid 72 hours now, my internet has been ridiculously slow. I've tried all the normal troubleshooting things, but no avail. Everything opens slowly, from 3reef to MSN, to .. ..whatever. I'm wondering if it might be due to volume of people using the internet since the earthquake.

On the other hand, it could just be my provider, Comcast.

Anyone else in my area (or not my area) experiencing a weird few days on the internet?

I have comcast internet here in cali - it is fine... cable modems are affected by others in your neighborhood - that is my understanding anyway. Do you have a wireless router? Is it password protected?

In Michigan, we were slow for a couple of days, but (no offense) my old teacher used to blame it on California (not my opinion) because when we went on in the afternoon, California was waking up and checking news on the internet.

    Thanks, Steve.

    Thanks, homegrowncorals.

Yeah, with cable you "share the pipe" with your neighbors. That could be it, but there have also been slow days in the past. Just never 3 days in a row. And yes, I use password and MAC address filtering, there's nobody on my network without my knowledge.

Thanks, sparky. :) My speed is unaffected. It's just lag time. I've rebooted the router, but not reset it. Like I mentioned, it's time comsuming to reset the MAC address filtering. But I might have to try it. I'm pretty sure it's just my area. It'll pass.

I couldn't imagine a state thousands of miles away affecting you, but. . . dunno about that old teacher. :hehe:

Thanks, all. I guess it's just my area. South FL has a pretty large Haitian diaspara and it could be they're busy trying to retreive information. Or not. . . . Who knows. . .

O.k. my friend, google (or whatever) Speakeasy.com and check your speed against what you are supposed tio be getting. Check it far from you and close to you and compare.

As I suspected Jed--it's not a speed issue. It's an issue with pages loading and time between page changes. My download and upload speed are b/w 15 and 20 MBPS whether from Atlanta or Seattle.

Thanks for the site, though. :)

I'm lost with this thread..................:confused: Me and computers, do not get along.

But I have been having trouble with my internet as well. It is cutting out, freezing(rare, but has happened) and is overall not as fast as it was maybe two weeks ago.
