I have some hair algae in my tank that is slowly spreading. I have a fuge that just experienced a die off and now there is bubble algae in my fuge. I am running a phosban reactor but the media is about a month and a half old. So I need to change it. As my levels go down the algae should go away right? In the meantime what is the best method to keep it from spreading.

Minimize feeding and do a couple of small water changes. Also cut your lighting down as much as possible. That should get you by tell you replace the media.
