I put a very small ( less than an inch long) helmet cowfish in my system and it looked to be struggling a little immediately and 10 minutes later I can't find it. I am not running carbon but could get some in the morning unless its extremely urgent then I could borrow some from someone tonight...

I have read where these can be extremely poisonous and where some say that's a myth...

my total water system is 180 gallons... I have 125 display with 40 gallon sump and 60 gallon cube all plumbed together....

my gut feeling is the fish was so small in a 180 gallon system..

    Should I be worried?

I know I wouldn't want a dead cowfish in my system.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You really got to know what your getting into when buying this fish.
" cowfish in my system and it looked to be struggling" that is how they look most of the time in your average reef aquarium.

Glad no long term damage was done. Liveaquaria provides some information regarding the toxicity of the fish.

LA-Similar to other boxfish, the Cowfish's skin is poisonous and, when threatened, it will release a toxin lethal to other tank members, including other Longhorns.
