What size is the main tank, I have been involved with making a few refugiums , Not difficuilt at all to do deep sand bed a must and very slow flos and light a way to put water from tank into the fuge and a way for the water to exit the fuge to the sump . I always feed mine on one end down at the bottom and drain it to the sump on up near the top on the oppsite end that ensures all the water will have to perk though the grasses /plants . Add some light and away you go.

There is no real rule on size. A 10 gallon is possible, but it will get a little cramped if you have all your equipement in there as well. If you can do a 20g long that would be a little more comfortable. You just need easy access to it and the ability to pull it out of there if it starts leaking without disturbing the nano. That's about it. Here is a link that you should visit.
