cool there's just so much conflicting info out there about if they do or not. I'd love to have a school of them, but I'm overstocked as is, and my YT has obviously hired my chromis as a bodyguard and he has obviously taken the job seriously and I believe he's taking performance enhancing drugs, he's truly the boss of the tank and is FAT.

There is good reason for the conflicting information, it does happen often enough.

Chromis are members of the Damsel family. If you get Green Chromis make sure and get the ones without the black and blue shoulder patch they are less aggressive and more likely to show schooling behaviour.

Love to see a pic of that;) I have a chromis, and it always seems like he's looking for a buddy. He and my old helfrinchi were pretty tight, but so far he's having no luck befriending the new one.

I have seven blue greens in my 57. My first batch when from 7 to 3 in short order. I watched and I was pretty sure it was disease that got them. I waited a bit, found some locally that had been in the store for a while, then added 4 to get back to 7. I feed well and they're all alive two months on now.

What happens in the future I can only guess and hope.

I do have a theory though. Some folks have had luck with one or two cross species group members. I've seen folks use a lemon chromis in a group of blue greens for instance. I have a pair of oscillaris in my tank; also a member of the damsel family. I notice the clowns actually get aggressive with any chromis getting aggressive with its buddies. This actually breaks up the fight. I don't know if its helping, but it's consistent with some other anecdotal evidence.

    We'll see how it goes.

    Very interesting on the clowns.

I experienced the same issue at first. Pretty much cured it the same way. I found feeding more often helps them make it when they are new. Getting healthy well fed ones from the LFS is a big help also.

check out my thread, my chromis doesn't let any fish near the YT and guards him so he can eat, its pretty cool
