my 125g im still adding live rock so im not getting anything for a while besides my baby eel and juvenile dogface.

i hear anything damsel size will get eaten...so im thinking the smallest i can do is a dwarf angel and things like tomato/fire clowns?

he is a known fish eater too. i had a lion for a few days and the eel quickly caught half his goldfish but i dont feed him live fish as i dont want him to hunt them. i feed shrimp/swordfish/cod/bluefish/scallop

I believe you should train him on silversides. That might help the aggression. As that fish gets big if it can fit in its mouth its pretty much dinner. I have a ribbon eel and I have a lot of fish that can fit in his mouth but he hasn't touched them..........YET.

im going to give him a chance. i think he is cool and is a gift from my g/f. we got him because we have read these are mostly invert eaters and don't usually mess with fish as other morays do because of their lack of fangs and poor eyesight...but he can really go after fish lol/

I do understand. You could try krill so he wont have that taste. Just a suggestion.

rule of thumb for eels is 2 times the size of his mouth to play it 100% safe
you can do mouth size but it really depends on your specific eel and its personality
some you can keep damsels with some you cant keep anything with
i wouldent do any clowns except maroons because of the size of the female will be massive and the eel will never challenge them if kept well fed you can easily get away with small fish but eventually youll wakeup and fish will be missing :)
