    you could go to babies r us and get those little plastic things to cover the outlet if it HAS to be close to your tank

    I did as well, however when you look at the sump there is a a splatter of water from the pumps and stuff. I added a plastic gaurd over the wall outlet as well.


    Didn't know about the vasaline, so cool

    Another thing someone can do it to make little acrylic splash case for the power strips too. It's not too hard to heat up 1/8" acrylic and bend it into shape, if using an adequate heat gun or small propane torch.
    I have my strips on the outside of the tank, below the ledge of my stand. The only way it can really get wet is if I am clumsy during a water change and I'm at the sides of my tank.
