Ok, so I just installed an Octo NDW200 Recirc Ext. in my closet. This was the only space I had available to install a larger skimmer to get away from an hob. Well this sucker is now putting out nasty nog that so smelly, my closet smells like a rotting forest  Wondering if there are any suggestions to curb the smell. For time being, I put some carbon in 2 old socks and laid them over the holes in the top of the collection cup. I have a drain in the bottom of the cup for a remote container, but I have it closed off for now. Any ideas?

You already place some carbon, which was my first suggestion. You can run a hose from your collection cup to a empty milk container. Just make sure that when you drill the hole on the cap, that you make it just a little smaller than the tube, so its a tight fit. I never had that problem, in fact, my AquaC's fitting that is attached to the C cup is open and I still dont smell anything. Luna

+1 for the info.. I'm still trying to figure out my own equipment.

I guess the cap on this thing is to put some carbon in to filter odors.. I still havn't got to the point where I use this thing. I don't have a manual so I guess I'll experiment with it.

When you clean your cup, put about 1/4c of white vinegar in the bottom of the cup before you put it back on. Virtually eliminates any odors from skimmers.

You could also apply a small ionizer with ozone which should kill outright just about any odor.
