Sorry to here about your fish. It sounds to me like your tank is cycling...perhaps you should buy a different brand test kits, or use a friend's, to compare to.

That is what I am thinking as well. I'm heading out for awhile, and I grabbed about 1/2 a gallon of water to be tested at the LFS. We will see what the verdict is on my test kit lol.

Let's hope it's wrong. Then you'll just need to be some new ones. lol.

BTW, how old are the kits? After a while, Red Sea kits - and some other brands, I am sure - separate and the solids stick to the bottom of the liquid bottles.

Sorry about the loss.. Its good that you have another tank. Are the corals looking stressed too?

I'm not sure how old the test kit is, I got it from someone else. That is one of the reasons why I thought it might be testing wrong. I had my params tested somewhere else and their test strip (which I don't really trust) said everthing is fine except my ammonia (.75). The said I could a water change if I wanted lol. I think I tend to trust my results over their lol.

The only coral that looks stressed is my Xenia. I think that is because of the increased flow yesterday, but I could always be wrong. One of damsels is still kind of pale looking. What could cause this. I know that a lack of light will cause this, but the lights have been on for about 7 hours now.

Big help, they were. lol. Dip strips are notoriously inaccurate.

lol, I know. I'm thinking about doing a 50% water change tonight. That should mostly take care of whatever is going on in there I hope.

This sounds all too similar to what happened to my tank. Everything was doing fine ( as I could see) until I added a new Korilia Evo 750 (to which I have no problem with the product) and my system went into chaos. Does increasing flow add stress to a stable system?

What does your Alk test out to be Smitty? Mine ended up being Way too high, my CB died, and my Xenia looked exactly like yours. Perhaps we can learn something from one another.....
