So I've been venturing into the lands of new snails and testing which ones I like the best. I'm still trying to figure out which I have tried and which of those I think work best.

What is a good snail that cleans well, very active, !rights itself! and is hardy? Nerties seem to be a favorite but all mine do is lay eggs everywhere! It's the opposite of cleaning!! ahhh

My personal favorite is the Asterea...... It does have righting issues though.

Close second is the Florida Dwarf Cerith. They go everywhere and eat almost anything.

I can't tell if my dwarfs are dead, hiding, or are more intelligent than anticipated and created a waterplane and took off back to the beach. Out of 80 I can find maybe 15!

Yeah... I am not sure what their lifespan is. I had about a 150 of em and can't find many left. I do have a fish that loves to munch on them though. ;)

Dwarf and regular ceriths, nerites, astraea and trochus. Trochus are like astraea axcept they can right themselves and are bigger.

Personally, I hate nerites..... Little buggers always end up upside down on one of my acros, or cooked under my lights.

    Just me though.

I guess I have been lucky so far then. I did have one make a jail break and not survive, but I just sealed my canopy where they could escape.

I had a nerite jailbreak and was on the floor for a few hours. Somehow he was able to survive and start eating again. Crazy little critter!

Where can I get Trochus snails? I can't find them at any LFS.

as long as you're not finding 65 empty shells, I'd say they are doing their job.

I really like planaxis. dwarf ceritsh, and nerites. I have several others that are great, but those are my fav's as far as effectiveness.
