i am not sure how much cleaning mine does but i find it interesting beyond its cleaning abilities. i wish i had ordered more. i ordered two and only one survived the trip. my chiton has one rock that he never leaves. i assume that if it wasn't getting enough food, it would move on.

I put a mexican turbo in my fowlr yesterday and he's really mowing down some algea, but their downside is they are huge bulldozers and will knock anything they can over(luckily for my fowlr that it has all big rock and no coral to mess with)plus I believe there lifespan is fairly short due to coming from cooler than tropical waters. It seems they don't last a long time.I also believe this is one snail that can starve unless your are purposly trying to grow a forest for him to graze. To clean up a tank, they are awesome. To keep as a pet, nah.

I need some good GHA cleaners. Little spots show up and I keep putting on a snail to suck it up, but then it's ignored. haha

For my reef,my dwarf ceriths and nerites seem to be my best cleaners.I love watching the nosey nassiurus(sp?)run around and pop out of the sand when i feed, but they are just scavengers and don't eat algea at all.

Yeah, I got some "thug" hermits in my tank. They kill all turbos I've purchased. I'll keep using dwarf & junior cerinths, nerite small & medium, all the fuzzy chitons I can afford, this crazy little pencil urchin. The chitons have left my LR white, almost bleached looking!! I recently also bought a few Emerald crabs. This CUC has gone into my 90g, 55g, 20g. So far, the 90g is doing best & had the most GHA. The 90g is also where I put most of the chitons & the pencil urchin.

I am having a battle with GHA but I need a good touch-up crew. my snails now get it but they don't touch the GHA unless I flop them on it directly.

Hermits will help with the GHA along with you removing as much as you can.

My hermits are lazy! I was going to mix it up and throw an emerald crab in there to see if they have any GHA skills.
