Snail and Hermit crab id please

    We found these guys on the beach we are just curious if they would be reef safe.

    The hermit crab has thin white and black vertical stripes and is quite large.

    The snail is very tiny and has kinda like zebra stripes on him. The shell is solid black and is about the size of a bumble bee snail.

    how cool - you can collect your own cc! Anyways, i've seen that hermit crab in the lfs so many times, i believe it is a reef safe one - i couldnt comment ont he snail tho

    Nassarius snails are great snails and I agree on that ID...
    7 hour trip.. I ordered mine through the mail.. put a little water and a wet paper towel in there.. should be okay.. thats how mine came.. shipping ended up two days b/c of our crappy local usps

    I have collected like this as well (and some when scuba diving...shhh) empty out a small water bottle with a screw cap and you are good to go.

    cool thanks guys if they make the trip home I will post some pics, I think we are gonna stop at one of the local shops and buy a hermit crab cage or 2 and put them in there with some sand and water.

    I would PM Don (Pagojoe) and verify that isn't a mud whelk. Mud whelks eat clams and other snails.
