I don't remember buying this snail... what is it?

Also, is this a new baby clam? This rock of zoas already has a clam on it, but this one certainly looks like a new one!

Pull the snail out and put it in your sump. I am not sure it is reef safe.

The other is a bi-valve just not sure which one.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Snail looks a lot like a Sundial and they love to eat your zoanthids as well as lay eggs on them.

I thought that was what the snail was.

Yeah, that's definitely a Heliacus (sundial), either H. areolata or H. variegata. They feed exclusively on zoanthids. Check for more, they like to huddle down out of sight.

    Cheers,

    Don

...and the bivalve is a Jewel Box Oyster (Chama species), and is harmless.

I had a feeling about that snail... I'm pretty sure I can just toss it in the trash. Cool shell though (perhaps worth keeping just the shell). This group of zoas now has 2 bivalves in it! Could be good looking once they grow a bit.

What would you dip them in (that is also safe for the bivalves)? Also, I did pull it out... it's sitting in a cup next to me hoping for a stay of execution by dehydration.

You can dip them in just regular RO/DI fresh, which will kill all living things on it besides the zoas(The dip will not harm them)So if you have any bristles or other lil worms or more snails on it, they will die and just give the rock a little shake and they will fall off of it.

Or you can use a product called Coral RX, which is better then the fresh water dip IMO. Same procedure used in this as the freshwater dip though, just a lil better.
