I have a neighbor who is an avid scuba diver who showed up at my door and gave me two snail's it looks like to introduce into my new tank and i kinda could not say no. My question is it reef safe and what is the milky substance around one of them?

Really hard to tell from those pics.
Can you take them out, set them on a paper towel, and take pics of both top & bottom?
I can't even really see the shape of the 2nd snail (I'm assuming there's 2 in that last pic?).

First one really does look like some kind of conch, but can't tell on the 2nd one at all.
Might be a good opportunity to educate your neighbor on "reef safe" heheheh.

Lightning whelks, Busycon sinistrum. They are predatory, of course.
