right now i have two turbos and two black ones (i forget the name but the lfs said they are better than turbos because they can flip them selves over and go in the sand. so far both are true.).

what other snails are there that are reef safe and algea enemies? lol

I think your talking about ceriths. I also like astrea and trochus snails. But as long as they get the job done it doesnt really matter what kind you have, IMO.

Trochus snails, nerite, nassarith, cerith, astrea, and turbo snails are all good snails and can compliment each other. Trochus are excellent film algae eaters, cerith will eat algae along the glass at the level of your substrate. Nassarith snails are scavengers and will eat any uneaten food. Margerita snails are good too, but short lived since they are a cold water snail andeventually cook to death after several months. I have a mix of different snails and conchs in my tank.

Do those snails not trample or move over the top your corals and damage them? or do they stay lower?

Mine do climb over corals but I keep mostly sps. The larger snails, like turbos, have a bad habit of knocking stuff around in a reef tank, especially corals that aren't glued down so if you've got `em, glue your stuff to the rocks :)

I always go with Margarita, Nassarius, Cerith, and Astrea. But Astrea make me mad as they can't flip themselves.

I prefer Trochus snails over astrea because they can flip themselves over and they seem to be more active. Nerites are a good addition too. They stay small and tend to clean at the top of the glass.

Nerites annoy me because once they get to the top of the aquarium glass and up out of the water, they'd rather die waiting for the tide to come back in than scoot back down the way they came back into the water. Stupid tidal snails! :)
