This snail came with my tank when it was rescued from a friend. I was told it was supposedly a turbo snail. (Not that I would believe this guy knew what he was doing though...) I was not too concerned about if it was predatory because he was the only snail in the tank, and is very large, a little over an inch and a half long shell with a probocis that is almost another inch. About six months ago I purchased a clean up crew package from reefcleaners (awesome by the way). I have noticed a bit of a die off in my smaller snails in my tank though and began to wonder if this guy is a problem.

Some habits he has that might help in identifying.. He does bury himself with sand so only the long nose things sticks out. He generally comes out when it is feeding time, particulally twhen it is frozen bloodworms. When he does decieded to come out and explore he is an EXTREMELY fast mover, can cover probabaly two feet within thirty seconds or so.. (not that I have actually timed it, but this is my best estimate)

If there is anything more specific needed let me know.. He is currently hiding back on the bottom in a cave, so if I do need to go get him out for pictures, let me know specificly what you want so I dont have to mess with him too much.

    Thanks!

I sort of had an inkling that it was some form of Nassarius snail, but I couldnt find that were considered that large. I guess my guy is just an oversized monster. LOL, also noticed that is stated they are hard to breed in captivity, and my guy has a trail of eggs... Hope I get doublely lucky!

I have a couple that are the size of a quarter rounded out. Most of mine are small though. Defiantly my fav snail by far!
