So, I am about to install a Reef Fanatic ATO on my 20 Gallon Mantis Tank and I do not have a sump. How do you keep snails from getting on the sensor and causing a tank overflow? Any suggestions would be appreciated, for now I just have the sensor in place to observe what the snail do.

    Thanks!

I'd imagine some variety of plastic mesh used as a grate would be the best option.

it looks like your ATO has two sensors - can one be used as a max fill sensor in the sump so that the ato doesn't overfill the sump?

I will look into that, I am not sure I think it is to protect the pump from lack of water.

u need to make a snail guard basically, put your float swicth in a pvc case just a small piece w/ 2 caps and drill holes to allow water to get to your float and presto change-o snail proof float switches. or you can get a plastic jar and cut/drill that for the switch to go in

yea my picture isn't super great but you get the idea and the switch should have a thread on top use that to secure it to the lid of the jar so it wont float around, i forgot bout that in my picture =P
