Snail? Yes? No?

    We can not figure out what this is. My husband says it's some sort of snail. I say it's something else just don't know. Does anyone know what it is, and if it's reef safe? I have never seen it before till today. And it's the only one I have seen. :confused:

    Stomatella snail. Algae eater.

    THank you!! I was so worried that he was be something that would hurt the coral, but heck, if he eats algae, he's more than welcome to stay!!! LOL I really appriciate the quick response. :)

    I have one in my tank too, they only come out at night for the most part. They do a pretty good job at cleaning the rocks. When I first saw it I thought one of my snails lost its shell :laugh3:

    Looks like a tiny anemone on its shell.

    Yeah, those are papillae on the mantle (they inflate and deflate, like the little dendritic structures on some cowries). I don't know if they serve any purpose other than camouflage, but they do that pretty well.
