    Can anyone help me ID this snail/mollusk??? It looks more like a giant limpit then a snail.

    Pagojoe does his best work late at night, so if you post in the morning you may have to wait a while for an ID, lol. It's Nerita albicilla. Yours shows the erosion typical for the species. Here are pics of some exceptional ones that aren't eroded (but still the same species):

    Very nice. thank you! Now is it ok to be in my tank. It came in as a hitchiker on my star polyp rock. Thanks again. I think I went through every snail picture gallery I could find last night.

    Yeah, it's an algae grazer like the other nerites. This species probably isn't as likely to want to climb out of your aquarium as some of the others, although they are sometimes found above the water line at low tide. It was probably an "accidental" hitchhiker that got in the tank with the corals. It wouldn't have been associated with corals in the wild.
