    I've noticed over the past couple of days that all of my snails are dying. Just sitting on the bottom and barely hanging out of their shells. I've noticed my fighting conch isn't as active either.

    Anemone, shrimp, corals, and fish are all doing great. Only thing unusual is that I've had another huge hair algae outbreak which I think was due to a DKH drop I had a week or so ago. It went down to 8 2 weeks ago. PH was around 8.0. dKH is now back up to 12 and PH is 8.2.

    Any ideas on what might be wrong?

    have you changed your water source? My thoughts go directly to copper, either in the water or the pipes supplying the water. Get ya some cuprisorb and put it into a sock into the filter. Have you recently treated with copper? Also, do you have a ground probe? Getting shocked will make them go into their shells, until they starve to death, cause it hurts to get out and about when you're getting zapped.

    Water is from my RO/DI filter, same as it always has been. I don't have a ground probe...

    Are your ro/di membrane's due for a change? just a thought?

    Also if you have got hermit crabs in your tank, and the shells that the snails are in are bigger then the hermits, they will kill the snails and pinch the shells, put some empty shells in the tank?

    @GuitarMan - Hermits are fine

    @Stingray - Hmmmm....maybe so I've had it about 6-months. Guess I need to buy a TDS meter huh?

    I went thru the whole snail dieing thing and since I started using cuprisorb and installed a ground probe, I haven't lost any! have you ever tested your water for stray voltage?

    + 2 on that one. If you have submerged pumps then I bet you have voltage in the tank.

    My pc lights were leaking voltage into my tank. that and an old powerhead.....do a process of elimination when testing. unplug one thing at a time and test. while you're at it label your cords so you know what everything is. makes it all so much easier ;D
